Portable appliance testing
As part of our policy to offer clients a full package, SR Electrical Services are fully qualified to undertake portable appliance testing (PAT testing) in any commercial environment. The Importance of PAT testing is a serious issue to both employers and employees, as the Health and Safety Executive state that 25% of all reported electricity accidents involve portable appliances.
The electricity at work regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and the self employed to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonable practicable steps, to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.
SR Electrical Services can help you fulfil your legal obligations by planning and implementing an agreed systematic and regular programme of maintenance, inspection and testing, as required by the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
Under the Act, all employers are responsible for ensuring that business Equipment is suitable for the purpose for which it was provided and only used in the place and under the provisions for which it was provided. It also requires every employer to ensure that work equipment is efficiently maintained and kept fit for its intended purpose. Equipment must not be allowed to deteriorate in function or performance to such a level that puts people at risk. This means that a planned maintenance regime is the only way to ensure both employers and employees are not put at risk.
