Portable appliance testing
PAT testing overview of services
SR Electrical Services supply customers with a register of equipment providing each appliance with:
• A unique reference number.
• Description of each appliance.
• The location of each appliance.
• Serial number of appliance.
• Last check date.
• Next check date.
• Status fail or pass.
The inspection and test provides a professional opinion from a fully qualified engineer on the condition of existing equipment. We also make recommendations on future requirements and ensure all work is carried out to the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) code of practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
The visual inspection consists of checking:
• Condition of flexible lead.
• Condition and type of plug.
• Condition inside plug (where possible).
• Fuse size.
• General condition of equipment.
Labels are secured to appliances inside a transparent ‘BDST 2’ snap tag. This indicates the date of the inspection, the date of the next inspection and the signature of the test inspector. All instruments used are as advised by the IEE publication code of practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
