As part of our policy to offer clients a full package, SR Electrical Services Limited are fully qualified to undertake portable appliance testing (PAT testing) in any commercial environment. The importance of PAT testing is a serious issue for both employers and employees, as the Health and Safety Executive state that 25% of all reported electricity accidents involve portable appliances.
The electricity at work regulations places a legal responsibility on employers, employees and their self-employed to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.
SR Electrical Services Limited can help you fulfil your legal obligations by planning and implementing an agreed systematic and regular programme of maintenance, inspection and testing, as required by the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
SR Electrical Services Limited have carried out PAT testing on very small sites with as little as 50 Nº appliances to 5 storey offices which require around in the excess of 5,000 items to be PAT tested out of working hours/weekends only utilising 3 teams of staff to ensure all of the items are tested within the set period of time proposed by our clients.
Under the Act, all employers are responsible for ensuring that business equipment is suitable for the purpose for which it was provided and only used in the place and under the provisions for which it was provided. It also requires every employer to ensure that work equipment is efficiently maintained and kept fit for its intended purpose. Equipment must not be allowed to deteriorate in function or performance to such a level that puts people at risk. This means that a planned maintenance regime is the only way to ensure both employers and employees are not put at risk.
